Here on the farm we pride ourselves in the wonderful care we give our cattle.
We have a small herd of registered Belted Galloway and Belted Galloway/Angus cross cattle, which we have established over the last several years to provide us with our butcher beef, as well as the ability to sell select registered cows throughout the year. We have our resident registered Beltie bull which enables us to breed, raise and finish everything here on the farm. The Belties generally do really well as grass fed and finished but we can do grain finished at a customer's request. The animals are then taken to the butcher, usually between 18-24 months. They truly go from our farm direct to your table! . We believe in a rotational grazing system so they are constantly moving to new pasture, and in the winter, they are fed clean, palatable, good quality hay. Happy, healthy cows produce tasty beef!
We use a local, USDA certified butcher to process our beef, which is vacuum sealed and weighed, and available for pickup or delivery.
Whole and half sides of beef are available to split with family and friends, as is a la carte purchase for those that do not have the freezer room for large amounts of beef. Instead of quarter sides of beef, for those that want 60-80lbs, we can offer specialized meat packages. Check our Products Page for more details.
The total cost per pound, which is based on the hanging weight, will vary depending on how large the animal is when processed. Typically, our animals are smaller framed so when processed they will usually yield 450-550lbs of hanging weight for a whole beef. The additional processing fee is paid directly to the butcher upon pick up, unless pre-arranged.
Hanging weight (HW): We sell our whole and half beef by the hanging weight, which is the weight of the carcass when it is aging, but before it has been butchered into the different cuts.
Finished weight (FW): This is the weight of the frozen and vacuum sealed products you take home from the butcher.
Butcher Fee: This is what it costs to have the animal butchered. This cost is payable directly to the butcher upon pick up of your order, unless other arrangements have been made. The total charge is based on the hanging weight of the animal and how you have selected to have your beef cut and packaged.
